Woo, 4 gig of RAM make a huge difference to 1 gig, even when not playing at all. I'm pretty sure having loads of RAM from the get go makes your hard drives stay cooler and last longer wink.gif
gasman
yeah, but on xp the OS can only use 3.2gigs...

Dont they ever learn, i mean the 640kb limit was ridiculous in its day.

Well, 3gig is still WAY better than 1, much less HD grind, no "waking up" of an application that sat in the background for a while.... and well, there's also Linux! The only way to make good use of 64bit hardware anyway wink.gif

(to be honest though, 64 bit is still a bit neglected.. no flash, at least not in Opera or FF (got it working in Konqueror though?? this is 10.3, haven't tried Flash in 11.0 yet), and Bibble, which worked great on Suse 10.3 64bit, I couldn't install on 11.0 64bit (I'm sure there is a solution for this though)... they do not intend a 64bit Bibble "at this time" sad.gif)

Whats the point of selling us 64-bit machines when there is no OS or no full selection of drivers ans apps for it...? Its another one of those rip-offs....

Anyways. Gadgets: Got a Sony Ericsson w890i last month, its a nice piece of kit....

Hah, this can be disregarded.

When trying to install Bibble, I got an error complaining about libstcsomething..

.. so I entered "libst" in the search box of the fabulous YAST software installation device, installed some kind of compatibility library which took like 3 seconds, tried the Bibble installation again.. success!

And 32bit Bibble running in a modern 64bit environment runs circles around 32bit Bibble on Windows, woo! Now to find an image viewer/batch thing (yeah yeah I know, scripts and ImageMagick...) for KDE that doesn't SUCK HORRIBLY... something like XnView or FastStone Image Viewer... and an FTP client that is nearly as good as SmartFTP... and there is NO way I'm going to find anything as good as Website Watcher for free sad.gif

So, uhm, I'm gonna keep dual booting... or maybe check out how virtualization came along hah!
